Benoîte Groult

FILM SUMMARY

In this film the French writer Benoîte Groult, a feminist icon since the publication of Ainsi soit-elle in 1975 and panellist of the Prix Fémina literary award, looks back on the major events of her life and underlines the values and principles that she wishes to pass on to future generations to ensure the freedom, stability and fulfilment of women.

Drawing on her own experiences, Benoîte Groult tackles the male social system that denigrates women, and participates in redefining the place of women in society. Today she condemns the social exclusion of the elderly and promotes the right to a dignified death.

Benoîte Groult indulges her two major passions, the sea and literature, by dividing her time between the Brittany and Var regions of France and Ireland.
